Hello Ken

Ref : PIC Check out   http://www.oshonsoft.com/

Software has been upgraded 48 times with no additional cost as
new devices or diagnostic tools have been added.

Very easy to write in basic / simulation for all functions.

There are C systems available.  C is better for transporting code
between different processors like Z80 6502 8080 , showing my age their

C is not forgiving. not helpful. And it expects you to know what
you are doing. You could spend hours just because a ; is missing

I’m not into Rocket Science but have Pics doing stuff in a few mins
that I did with Z80 machine code that took months

Regards

Alan

Also you can get MPLAB development tools, simulator, debugger and C compiler cheap as chips (free) from the PIC's manufacturer Microchip: www.microchip.com

Z80 - did you ever build a Nascom 1?  6502 - program a PET computer in assembler?.  My first program was stored on punched cards! Undecided

Ah, them were the days! I didn't build a Nascom 1 but I did program a PET in assembler! It does bring back a few memories of early software development, such as writing Manic Minor for the CBM64 in just over 5 weeks, but I think I'll stick with more recent technologies Wink
