68C today top of tank.

Best news though is that we only used the gas boiler about 3 times since March. Grin

Lowest temp recently was 31C, so dishwasher and washing machine would have used more electricity.  Cry

I'm impressed!

We've not faired badly - I think we've only put the boiler on for hot water twice since the beginning of September (but we have used the woodstove for heating for 4 evenings - which means we had plenty of hot water at the same time).

Today's tank started 22C at bottom, 38C at top and finished 50C top to bottom. I'm going to be installing another two panels on short pipe runs to try to improve my winter performance. Watch this space....

Some of the best cylinder temperatures this year 11/10/08    ( 15 58mm tubes facing ESE / 30 58mm tubes facing WNW )

210 litre 60 c at top 38 c at bottom, at 19.00 p.m

Forgot to say no boiler in use for the last week !

After 1 complete washing machine cycle and two adults showering not bad for mid October !

Just had a water meter fitted, so hopefully will be able give some water consumption figures for the above soon! (anorak
time !)

Good here in Southampton too.

18.00   Bottom of cylinder 63.2, top of cylinder 63.5.

To be fair there was only small usage of hot water today.

2x 1.6msq flat plates with 172 litre cylinder

Not quite as good today as yesterday! Fog until 11.30 Oxford

Cylinder raised from 18c to 45c by 19.00

Still supplied three adults showers today.

79C top of 120 litre tank/ 30 tubes / short 10mm pipe/ retro coil. About 65C in the middle.

We had glorious sunny day in Gloucestershire, it felt like a hot summers day working on the garden.  Smiley

Pool still maintained at 31 to 32 with no added heating (though we did have to give in and heat it for 2 days last week - first time all summer). I'm impressed, though not as impressed as I was by the unexpected arrival of our first grandchild at 34 weeks.

The solar thermal system ticked over nicely (120L, 30 tubes) this month. Medium temperatures up to 50 something - we used the boiler twice when the water was too cold for showers.

I'll keep repeating this till the day I die - every home should have a solar thermal panel.  Smiley

I've recently fitted 40x 47mm tubes into my system in addition to the 30 70mm tubes to boost temperatures in winter (the original panels are on 16m piperuns - ineffective from this time of year onwards through the winter). Since fitting it, water has been heated mostly from solar (thanks to good weather throughout almost all of October) - bottom of cylinder temperaures up to 42C, and usually higher than 38C. Lost my top of cylinder reading due to second panel bank, but will reinstate at some point when I get chance.

Damn, I was hoping I might pip Paul's temperatures. Now where did those other panels go....?

Ivan,

It will be very interesting to see how 70 tubes perform in Dec and Jan....   but you will need a steam engine in summer to make use of all the boiled water.  Grin

My impression is that they will do very well on sunny days (or at least the new ones will - the old ones lose most of their heat in the long piperuns at this time of year).  Today was really dark and overcast all day (2 Nov) and bottom of tank didn't exceed 17C. So virtually no heat at all today. Yep, I haven't figured out what I'm going to do in the summer - probably cover the panels over.
