Wannabe engineer here, rather than real one. I'm a consultant surrender , in markets for emerging energy technologies (mostly distributed energy). Have worked at a couple of energy consultancies and freelance for people like Carbon Trust Enterprises (briefly) on commercialisation of energy technologies and concepts.    Been at current company for a couple of years, but got bored of leeching rather than doing and finish at Christmas.   Likely to carry on doing freelance consulting stuff, but short term plans probably involve some bodging on new flat (I hope to be one of first to get Baxi Stirling Engine mCHP from British Gas) and some WWOOFing.  Likely to spend at least some time farming in the long term, hopefully including energy (energy crops or wind/hydro).

As I said, a Sociologist/Geographer rather than an engineer. But if anyone wants to know about micro-CHP or the way big companies think about RE and DE then happy to help.

C

PS I come on here because I'm an energy geek, first class. Not because it helps professionally.

Why the fascination with renewable energy?  - Is it because we truly suspect something is amiss, and we are all doing our own bit to steer away from adversity?

As Ken said this forum is an amazing collection of talented engineers. I think we understand the physics of energy far more than the average person and clearly see both the mess the world is heading towards and the inevitable economic/lifestyle changes.

Thank god for leaders like Obama who will lead the masses in the right direction.

I already know that Paul, that's why I'm here, to brain pick.

My thanks to all you super heroes who understand and pass on your fathomless knowledge.  OK some is way above me, but mostly I can struggle and get my head round it, albeit in a small way.

...and thanks to Lightfoot, my return pipe is nearly warm,

....others are teaching me about stagnation, stratification and how water works.

...to the mods for keeping it happy.

here's to the forum Smiley Smiley Smiley
