I think you've got it in one! Wink
Rumour has it that several local authorities have grave misgivings over roof mounting, particularly on the grounds of noise transmission into the structure, and likely structural damage, and are turning down applications with the suggestion that they "put one on a pole down the garden" instead! Cool
The thought that the squirters of insulation to have the first clue about how wind works is naive in the extreme - I know of no reputable company that will roof-mount Wink

i wonder if WS know about this??

I thought the supply of these was tightly controlled.

Also this has obviously been modified as now its able to offer nearly half your electricity!!!
Perhaps its had twin webbers fitted or a nitrous oxide kit!

Seriously though, is anyone here green enough that you use so little electric that one of these will give you 40% of it??

No?

ok, i though not.

Now i wonder if its worth bidding on, if it goes cheap enough, it could be a sound investment as in a couple of years time i could sell it to a museum!  Obviously they will be rare then as most will have suffered some pavement damage.

Does this mean that WS Turbines will be the RE equivalent of the Sinclair C5  Undecided  laugh

I only ever saw two of those on the road - and nearly drove over one of those as I was pulling back in after overtaking a stationary bus   Shocked

But no motor museum is a real museum without a C5 is it? I'm convinced that's where they all ended up...

Let's face it, they were Oh, how I wish it was better, but Sir Clive became a multi-millionaire.

Clive's fortunes seemed to yo-yo. I think if you sum up Clive Sinclair, he had a lot of vision, but had to trim a fair bit off in order to turn it into low-cost reality.

He originally started by designing schematics for hobby radio books and magazines - I have some DIY valve radio books and some early transistor circuit books with contributions from Sir Clive. He came up with several major landmarks - first (affordable) pocket calculator, first (affordable) digital watch, first home computer, first affordable disk drive (ok, it was actually a cartridge, when it finally arrived), first affordable electric vehicle and so on.

His first major seller - I think it was the 'kit' calculator, sold like hot cakes, but then they all failed due to static problems, so he ended up refunding eveyone's money. He didn't give up though! Sinclair Research Ltd was purchased by Amstrad, which then went on to make the first PC.

I saw him at, of all places, a BT christmas party sometime in the early eighties. He is without doubt the second worst dancer of all times.

No that could never be, I float across the dance floor like a skater in a mist, no, the worst dancer of all times was the ex managing director of K-net networking, technical genius, dance disaster. He looked like a badly erected tower crane collapsing.

yawn! Wink
Yet another self-appointed body! -  "REF is a not-for-profit foundation formed of individuals concerned by the uncontrolled growth in proposals and planning applications for power stations in inappropriate rural areas" - in other words it's a bunch of self-important tossers who are anti wind power....................... Grin
Well we know wind doesn't blow all the time - surprise, surprise! Cool

naughty people! - a bit of googling turns up the fact that "REF" are in fact sponsored by an Iranian businessman  - Vincent Tchenguiz - about who the Times wrote - http://business.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,9064-1491280,00.html - I note he has the ultimate vulgarian's status symbol - an utterly vast gas-guzzling yacht! - impeccable green credentials then!
