Looking around some of the threads on the forum I detect a certain amount of tetchiness. Is this a direct result of the present economic climate, the recent full moon or may be some other reason?

I think you may well be right - I've said it before, having run a pub where it is incredibly evident, people do go "over the top" around the full moon - add to that the blessed "c" word is heading our way towards the end of next month (cause for me to enter full "bah humbug" mode), sprinkle on worries about mortgages, jobs, recessions etc., I think you have a recipe for some spleens to be vented Lips Sealed
I've noticed signs that things have been improving over the last 24 hours - certain posts are being edited, and blood pressures are returning to normal............. whistlie

We admit things have been allowed to get a bit out of hand lately. Sorry for that.

Antman has summed things up well and the moderators (myself included) have cleaned up the posts. I expect we will nip things in the bud in the future.

I couldnt be happier and more relaxed. Theres something about seeing the whole ponzi economy going down in flames that warms the cockles of my heart.

Should be a lesson to us. Perhaps in a few years we will go back to making things, valuing family and personal contact not building a BTL empire and keeping up with the Beckhams.

NickW....... I fully agree with you. Wink
The BBC actually used the "D" word today....
( having avoided the "R" word for so many months !)
I am very happy for this country to crash  into
" depression" along with the rest of the world.
A country/ economy that produces nothing, and
sees shopping, welfare hand outs and credit as
worth while things deserves everything it will get.
Making thing (that are useful), family and a general
ability to live within ones means and SAVING
against times that are less good are valuable
skills that will have to be relearned..
The sooner and deeper we plunge the sooner we
will readjust to a better, balanced, happier  and
more planet friendly life style (IMHO).

Don't think it's down to just the Economic down turn... Or the time of the Month... I'm sure it's a seasonal thing, shortening day length & in my own case the up coming consumer fest alternatively badged as Xmas... Sad

"Ti's the season to be jolly" the piped music vomits out, as two complete strangers wrestle each other to the ground trying to lay claim to the last Disneyesque lump of plastic cuteness for there respective kids & £2.00 worth of plastic at the almost reasonable price of £99.99... Roll Eyes... The little "Lard bucket" won't be at all gratefull & will probably end up eating it when he mistakes it for a choclate Santa that his old Aunt always buys him at this time of year... vomit2

"Peace & good will to all...." ... My R's.... Enough to make you want to cozy up to Scrooge... "Paff Humbug" ... & see you all when the sun starts shinning again, some time around April.... whistlie

Oooh... In case you missed it... I'm not over keen on the standard winter festivities.... Grin

Well, I'm having one of my recurrent "dose of the surreals" - as far as I can work out, the entire worldwide capitalist system is collapsing - we're hurtling towards ecological armageddon, and what's happening? - Well, they're still discussing third runways, or whether we should build a new one altogether............and we can't afford the Olympics, and would France like it - and to get us all out of trouble, we've got to stimulate the US car industry to make cars that noone can afford, but we will be able to buy them because we're heading towards a new phenomenon - negative interest - governments will pay US to take out car loans, and then everything will be all right again!
And just to cheer us all up there's some strange death cult's festival coming up that involves shiploads of "stuff" to be shipped to us from China, which our blobboid offspring break, then we send back in January.......................... horror
Its ALL Amy's fault obviously - it was her who pulled the first card out of the bottom of the house of cards............. fight
