This has been discussed previously in some detail. I've looked in vain for the last 6 months or so for a suitable mould, but finally a few weeks ago, one arrived from America.
After a failed first attempt last week, I can confirm that this evening Georgia has helped me produce the first few chocolate teapot awards. I'll post a picture as soon as I can be bothered to get the camera out. They are around 40g, so a good-sized after-lunch snack for anyone lucky enough to win such an award. I still need to work out some suitable packaging, but we're pretty much ready to roll. I'll be putting the chocolate teapot award webpage on the Navitron website soon, and we'll be running regular awards, and inviting the recipients to attend a short ceremony in Oakham to receive their award.
We have to steer clear of unjustly rubbishing competitors' products (we actually get on very well with many of our competitors) and on the whole I'd rather keep my lips sealed than criticise a poor product offered by a competitor. However, I'm all for awarding a chocolate teapot award for companies/individuals guilty of grossly mis-selling a product, after all - that's the inspiration behind this award.
Two things I'd appreciate feedback on:
1)How often should we run the award? Please take into account exclusivity of the award (if we award it every day, soon everyone will have one - if it's to be an award for outstanding achievements, it needs to have some exclusivity about it).
2)How should be title it? I'm thinking along the lines of 'Chocolate Teapot Award - for exemplary contribution to Renewable Energy' . That's not quite right, but something hinting that it's for exceptional behaviour but without actually stating exactly what it's for - that way, we'd probably fool some recipients into dressing up and coming to collect the award - photos would look great, wouldn't they?!
3)Nominations for the award - we need to keep these coming to ensure the award is awarded regularly, and becomes a household name.

Quarterly (any more would "cheapen" it) - for "greenwash" above and beyond the call of duty - for providing a product or service which lives up fully to the meaning of the title of the award - something that is utterly useless for the use for which it was designed!

Good nomination. I think we leave words like 'greenwash' for the smallprint. I'd like to make the award letter sound like they really have won something good, so that the foolish will turn up to collect their award. We'll need to work on the nomination title.
By the way, you'll need to sum up, preferably in a couple of hundred words, the reasons for your nomination.

i tried to translate chocolate tea pot into latin - but neither chocolate (nor cocoa) or tea have latin words aparantly (which is a bit weird) - Im sure someone more scholarly than I could work it out.
pot - scaphium tea plant - Camellia sinensis cacao tree - Theobroma cacao
so maybe the Theobroma Camellia scaphium award? sounds like a dual name award?

Nice idea.
The companies/individuals involved make a habit of collecting awards and government money rather than running a good business - so it would appeal to them. Woe betide them if they don't do their homework before collecting their trophy.

You'll need to support your nomination with a short summary (but yes, I agree it shows promise!)

I hope it's going to be MILK choclate... As I'm sure a lot of the potential recipients will be familiar 7 comfortable with the use of the word in a completely none dairy sense... Naming it something other than the "Chocolate Teapot Award" is a tough one... best I could manage was "The Bournvile/Cutty Sark Cup"... No... must go & think some more...

To go with the chocolate tea-pot could we not have a "polar opposite" golden teapot award, so at least when castigating (or castrating) some of the swine we could have an award for those doing the exact opposite (IE GOOD) ..so we could both point the finger & point the offender in the right direction as to info on how to do it properly? ..highlighting the good & the bad? eg a cheap china teapot with a small solar cell on it to get the point across? wouldn't need to seek a ying & yang on each occasion but it might be nice to point out we are not just moaning, more intent on re-alignment or such. ..if the actual award is still a dilemma I recommend fimo polymer clay, they do a nice chocolate colour. ..I'd happily donate a large 350g block to a good cause, who knows you could even do a removable lid with a richard the third inside for the curious recipients

The Annual "Green Teapot" Award.
In recognition of exceptional over-achievement in advertising, marketing or PR, specifically relating to a claim of environmental benefit.
(And in keeping with the Greenwash Marketing that it recognises, the "Green" Teapot, is actually less than 5% organic cocoa solids, and any green-ness is, well, a matter of definition, and, yes, we think it is green even if to some observers it might appear more like chocolate.)
