Hi Seeing the kayakers going down the dam spillway ( some 300 foot long )and the amount of water rushing down is it not possable to place a turbine or a water generater of some sort to capture all that waste energy . I understand that it may only be possable in the winter months due to the rain fall after saying that it might possable for a good percentage of the year due to the high rain fall in the last couple years

Two Eskimos were out fishing in their canoe and they got very cold. One decided to light a fire to keep warm.
It soon burned a hole in the canoe and it sank.

Moral of the story is:

You can have your kayak but you cant heat it.

ok, im going.  Roll Eyes

Of course it would be possible. However, our glorious planning system acts to stop anything thats novel, interesting or whatever fume

You might google the "Thames Windsor run of river turbine" - it will give you a feel for the roadblocks that get thrown in the way.
I'm afraid the whole shebang is being killed by an unholy combination of "bananas" (build absolutely nothing anywhere near anybody) and the RSPB/Ramblers/etc. who object to stuff being built anywhere else "cos its a lovely wilderness"

I'll just go get my guns banghead

That's no fun Richard you couldn't get a kayak into that.... Roll Eyes

I think the problem is that spillways can be very intermittent & as we have had a wet & sunless summer in Mid Wales this year it may appear that there is always that quantity of water available... I'm sure that's not the case normally.

Besides it use by kyakers  seems to be a good way of helping to clear the gene poll of some of the more extreme character types.... whistlie

Yeah, only because we have to. Heres the evidence :-

Does he wash up? Never wash up
Does he clean up? No, he never cleans up
Does he brush up? Never brushed up
He does nothing the boy does nothing

That is because we allow to. do not judge every man / boy in the same way
besides admit it you are mad about the boy or should that be boys
