A batch boiler hmmm. I do miss Kristen.

Anyway "the eagle has landed" I am now the proud possessor of a 1000Litre store complete with a 6kW immersion heater

A bit bigger than the old store that Desp hopefully can remove in double quick time

The fun starts Wed afternoon 10th.

Well always have great plans to do a Kristen like write up but has beet too busy at StBC

Tank was plumbed by Desp. and seemed fine but two little leaks around the input and output connectors so 1000 Litres of water drained out onto the bank. At least not batch boiler temps. Interesting to see if c 35 degree water will encourage or discover growth.

A bit more of a close up

Big problem was that the Akvaterm insulation is so thick it is difficult to get at the joints. Desp. seemed a bit surprised that there was no 45/47mm spanner socket to be found in Newcastle on a Saturday. To live in Cactusville eh? A slight bit of bodging and problem sorted. Seemed  different to Lightfoot's ideas but seems to work fine!

Not quite as much success with the small wind turbine

Spins OK!

Sadly missing a few bits and bobs and more tomorrow hopefully. Desp spotted another turbine a VAWT - this time close at one of our neighbours (only about a km or so away). Like buses no wind turbines then 3 come along at once. Still could be a good sign!

Turbine moved into position

Problem with the guy ropes. Need some fixings to attach to the pole and some heavy duty pegs.

Another neighbour unlikely to object. Any ideas what the VAWT may be?

Hi Sean,

How are you all? hope the heat store keeps the floor nice and toasty as planned (and Mrs B happy) any luck with the wind turbine yet? Tell JrB that MicroDesp has been coaching me in the Dinosaur chase game, so hopefully I'll give him a run for his money next time Wink

All the best

Sean,

That wet suit hanging in front of the 1000 litre store... Is that in case Desp's plumbing gives way in the night?  Tongue

Oooof all that piping and no lagging! Smiley sure that was just an install pic. Impressed with your setup. Thanks for the PV data, really interesting. What orientation is the roof is that due south ?
Merry crimbo and new year salutations and all that.

Stuart
this is indeed an install pic. Desp suggested leaving lagging off for a week or two to make sure there were no leaks. Will post again when the lagging is in place. The roof points 9 degrees west of south and is at an angle  of 50 degrees to horizontal.

Please don't quote all the pics - this way madness lies!

(sexy tank). I met an akvaterm geek at at conference last month BTW so we have someone to ask for really hard questions. I told him he should read this forum as we talk about and recommend their tanks regularly.

Wookey
thanks I agree completely. Stuart quoting pictures does not add value as the pictures appear anyway but thanks for your comments. Poor system is working on overdrive at present. We have had three cold winters in a row - at least it has been sunny 6kWh today of PV.

Sorry lazyness, dunno if anyone else has the prob with internet exploder. The text boxes just jumps around all over the place. If it was my lap top I would use my beloved chrome or go back to firefox when v4 is past the beta.
I did try and just thought sod it as they are external urls and shouldn't really have any effect.
I just opened up word pad and pasted it onto the end.

IE does the same thing for me too, I use firefox at home so it's only a problem if I'm at work Smiley
