Now we can get the SWEA low voltage grid tie inverter to use with our small wind turbines , is there any way of monitoring power output?
I currently have several OK4E solar grid tie inverters and monitor the output via a 2 core data cable to a tiny modem plugged into my pc. - simple plug in to usb port, download programe and use.
Also has anyone tried grid tieing this inverter with solar panels? Any reason why not?
Any info appreciated.

Hi George,

There is a very simple method for monitoring - simply use one of our power meters (or similar). This will give you instantaneous readouts of power/amps plus a cumulative kWh reading.

In theory it could be used with solar PV, but ideally, the MPPT would need to be changed to suit PVs rather than wind turbines. I think the manufacturer has done this or is developing this.

I discoverd a realy great way to monitor power output from the turbine into my AP Box. Just use a little "Watt Up Meter" can be bought on Ebay for around £25.00. The device is normaly used to track power consumption by an RC model motor from its battery. However the voltage range is perfect and it displays Watts, Volts, Amps and Kwh all in real time, on the same display at the same time !!. Here is a Link to the one I bought.

Rob , where did you purchase your grid tie starter kit ? May I ask how much? How are you getting on with it?
