Whats the next kick in the teeth going to be for the financially resoponsible?

The bank of England have just dropped the base rate to the lowest for 57 years.  Great if you have shed loads of debt and have been irresponsible, this is your reward.
Add to that, there will be a 2 year suspension of mortgage interest to help those who bit off more than they could repay in the property feeding frenzy.

The gov bang on about saving in various ways, the pension being the main one.
Pension returns will take years to recover from the latest market crash, and now mini cash ISAS are going to suffer as well.

Where now is the incentive for the financially responsible?

And where is the incentive to lend money for only a 2% return (I know base rate is only a guide line rate) on the risk!!!

Its hard for ab initio pilots to make it a reflex action to push the stick forward to recover from a stall. It goes against gut instinct. Over come the fear and do it anyway then all is well.

Maybe interest rates should be going up. Political suicide but far more fiscally responsible to encourage saving and lending.

WOW, ....ive just checked my premium bonds and have won £100 this month.  Have to work out now if this is more than the interest I would get after tax.

I'm going to spend all mine whilst it still has some value, with interest likely to be below inflation or thereabouts, its real value is disappeaing.

Anyway if I get into trouble later due to my lack of sensibility, I'm sure someone will bail me out. wackoold

That takes me back to my early days of glider flying. A spin is even more fun.

"Great if you have shed loads of debt and have been irresponsible, this is your reward"

ker-ching! ... Oh, sorry, bad taste ...

Having said that it is enabling me to spent more "easily" on renewables, although the temptation to just over-pay the mortgage is huge.

"ive just checked my premium bonds and have won £100 this month.  Have to work out now if this is more than the interest I would get after tax"

If you have the max £30K in Premium Bonds I believe the likelihood is good that it will be equal to a savings account - and always the "risk" that you get a big payout ...

Spin recovery isnt part of the PPL sylabus anymore but still essential in my opinion.

Ease back on stick to stall, boot load of rudder to initiate spin, hold back stick for at least 2 turns.
Recovery. - Stick fully forward, watch ASI, full opposite rudder to correct spin, ease back on stick.

Its going to earn next to zilch in the bank and Im feeling lucky Punk.  Cool

Ive actually come out marginally on top this year over the bank rate.

Look at the bright side. Definitely the time to install the renewable of your choice. PC next in my case no point in keeping my savings in a bank!

It's interesting how at the edge of a stall, the stick has virtually no control at all, and we we're told the often the crashes we're caused by glider pilots stalling, waggling the stick to get some effect, finding nothing happens and then putting in a great big boot full of rudder to see if that works.

Very easy to get into a spin when thermalling low down in scratchy lift. Probably more of a risk for a glider than a powered aircraft but I'd still expect PPL pilots to have some experience of it. It's fairly scarey the first time you do it.

Took me over an hour to clear the puck out of the back of a chipmunk the first time I did a spin stall.

Serves me right for answering the question,"What do you want to do today, Cadet?"
With, "Aerobatics please, Sir."

After a decade of Labour government the nation is bankrupt, I'm shocked, its not like thats been the outcome every single time they have ever been in power.
