A bit like the village-anorak, I think that works best if folk post comments (in a forum, or in response to an article), and then a kind-hearted, diligent, soul amalgamates the suggestions into the core Wiki text, thus maintaining consistency and providing an editorial step that keeps out the crud.
The more willing-helpers you have, the more variations-on-a-theme you get ... there is a story that the Australian patent office library was wonderfully easy to search, until the sole person responsible for key-wording the articles retired, and thereafter no one could find anything
