Hi

I want to replace the front room light switch with one I can control remotely (lazy git Roll Eyes). As they are all CFLs, I'm aware that I can't dim them, but all IR remote switches appear to also dim. I've not been able to find a replacement switch that can just turn  on and off remotely without a dimmer. Is anybody aware of such a thing?

Dimmable energy saving lights are now available. [url]http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Lighting_Menu_Index/Lamps_and_Tubes_Index/Energy_Saving_Lamps_Index/Dimmable_CFL/index.html [url]

Although the BC and ES versions work well, I have had problems with the GU10 energy saving dimmables particularily if using an electronic controller (ie richmond)

Don't get me going on the simple joys of the X-10 AD10 DIN rail appliance module and it's life or death struggle with Compact Fluorescent bulbs.
Should be simple, but it doesn't kill the modules, oh no, that would be too bloomin' terminal. No it makes them take on personalities. Easy on,  Very hard off.
Avoid.

Not had any problems with the AM12 socket mounted appliance module switching and CFLS, but the relay clunk can frighten nervous geese in the next county.

There seems to be a variety of remote switches on ebay from time to time.   I was looking at one which had two switches but I can't see it now.  The ebay  item number below has three but they are wired into the lead to the light instead of replacing the wall switch.   .

I think that there are plenty of plug and socket switches that just switch, but people that want to upgrade their wall light switches seem to be presumed to want dimming. And remote dimming can be useful if you have your hands full on the couch!

I was in B&Q this morning and noticed their remote switching kit.
Their replacement wall switches are indeed dimming.
BUT they do sell plain on/off (no dimmer) remote controls. Using one of those wouldn't touch the dimming control, would it?
