Looked all over the website and haven't seen it, but are the vented hot water cylinders, supplied by Navitron, Part L Approved?

Already ordered the 210 litre 1800x400 vented jobby the other day, in prepapration for a Solar Water Heating System, but the installation of the cylinder is being undertaken by British Gas as they're fitting a new Central Heating System.  Didn't ask when I ordered the cylinder from Navitron, and British Gas are happy to fit it at no additional cost, but want to know whether the cylinder I've ordered is Part L Approved.

Anyone know from reading the Certificate that comes with it?

They also say they won't cover the warranty of the cylinder, but will cover all the connections they make to it, so can someone tell me what warranty I get from Navitron?

Also, are there any fitting instructions supplied with the cylinder?  Such as coil connections being labelled 'Boiler' or 'Solar', I'm not saying the fitters will be dense, but there may be a need to cover everything.

I'll be ringing Navitron after 10.30 but thought this might be quicker.

The cylinders are Part L approved. They are very good quality and yours will probably arrive with 22mm compression fittings as standard on all but the solar coil which is 15mm compression. The solar coil is on the lower connections. Sealed pockets are also fitted ready to slide the controller sensors in.

From experience, both coils seem to be very effiicient.

For data look at:  http://www.newarkcyl.freeserve.co.uk/solar%20page.html

They come with the Part-L compliance certificate stuck to the side - which British Gas should complete for you as part of the installation.

One important point to note: The instructions refer to fitting the thermostat sensor (for boiler heating) one-third up the cylinder. This is a standard label fitted to non-solar cylinders as well. Because the boiler coil only heats down to just below half-way on the cylinder (the exact amount depends on cylinder size) you need to adjust the thermostat location accordingly. The idea is to maximise the solar capability over boiler useage.

I fitted two Honeywell L641 boiler cylinder stats supplited via separate programmer/timer zone outputs. One is higher up the cylinder than the other. The upper stat is positioned so as to create a 'minimum' volume of boiler heated water for daily winter use.
The lower stat is in a 'bath' position to give a larger volume of boiler heated water for - baths. This is controlled via one of the programmer zones to only come on when required - thus maximising the solar capability.

Thanks for that, and for supplying the extra information regarding installation, all printed off and very useful.
