Well its been a long wait but now I'm here...(where..?)

I've got the Navitron on the Roof, I've got the accumulator and the HW tank in the Stable and it works.

Well the Hw has worked for a while at least 3 weeks anyway... I would have expected that.

What I am talking about is that TODAY I circulated hot water around my radiators, the heat from which originated from the solar panels.

3000lts of water at 37°c not bad..... free heat for my house..... sweet as a nut!

I'm a happy man.

Salute

Here is the site with my daily logs can be viewed

http://www.apid.fr/poolguy/solarsolair/navitron.html

the site will be built soon to include the schematic and pics of the various components and the building of the system.

Hope its of some interest

Andrew,

I'm glad your system is working well - I'm always amazed how well evacuated tubes work in winter.

3000l sounds impressive!

Yes as you can see from the logs... which are updated every 10 minutes
The system has been heating my house pretty well alone (little help from elect immersions) throughout February, so I am guessing I got it all with the exception of about 6 weeks where I will need some major assistance.... I'm guessing Gasification woodchip burner TBD The secret thought is definitely the Accumulator, bigger the better. Multifuel and multi season configuration (non standard)

Other than that I'm a happy Bunnie.

Do you have any more info on how your heating is set up?

You mention radiators so I assume you're not using Underfloor heating. Interested to know how well radiators can work with lower temp water from a large store.

Also what are your outdoor night temps?

Any way of getting outdoor temps showing on your online logging?

Rod
I can send you the schematic when its finished... got into a bit of trouble with all of those lines, bit hard to read. Dramatic change of style needed.

The house had already been renovated with tile floors and a radiator system installed. I will be making a glass covered veranda that will have underfloor to join to my Accumulator store, but for the moment its just, heat the water and send it round the circuit.

Currently as you can see from the graphs (green line) when the temp at the top of the accumulator drops then I'm taking of heat either to replenish the DHW cylinder (sharp drop) or to send it round the house (slow decline). The radiators are functioning now and warm to the touch. Up until about 2 weeks ago that circulator was working all day&night - so the house never cooled down. These days it just at night as the days are really nice sunny 14-20°c so we leave the doors open. Night time temps are OK tonight for example will be 4°c-Its been like that for a couple of weeks.
I would have to say that the system has worked fine to provide the primary heat for the house since early Feb, I could use more power on the roof to get through Feb but from now on I definitely don't want any more than I have.

You'll notice the remarkable drop in temp from the SKL cylinder (red line), once it reaches temp about 41°c and the circut swiches over to heat the accumulator only then the SKL will loose about one degree every hour. Difference is that the SKL has 3cm of insulation and the Akvaterm has 10cm insualtion.

I will be installing a cc Camera on the Roof to sweep the panels so that the weather conditions can be seen on the same website and will try to get a weather station read out in the same frame. That will be the next step to make the information really useful. I guess that I am trying to prove a point so I regret if this stuff comes across as a little on the overkill side.

Whats my point...... that solar is a viable contributor to home heating. !!
Well it is in Marans 17 France anyway.. I guess that much is proven.

Solar home heating works well in France department 11 too.  Too well at the moment but when we have the extension built the capacity will be better matched.  Yesterday I estimate we produced 45 kWh of solar thermal.
