Wierd thing happened yesterday, had to go up in the attic for summat and just wondered if the old Win98 PC was still dead (see start of this thread). So I switched it on and "hey presto" it fired up like a good 'un.  Huh  Huh  Huh I've left it on logging away to see if it's cured or it's one of those nasty temperature related faults like a cracked or dry joint.

Cheers, Mike.

Update... it died again  Sad

This time it ran for 2d 3h 9m (previous run was 2d 13h 16m). I checked over the mother board but couldn't see anything wrong, and all the chips are soldered so no dodgy IC sockets to wiggle.

It's probably a cracked track or dry joint that goes open circuit when things get cold. 1st death 03h01, 2nd death 01h55 in a well insulated attic. I know the PSU and CPU get nice and warm, but bits of the motherboard (especially at the front where the fresh air is drawn in) track the ambient temperature.

Oh well, on with the PIC microcontroller data logging project then  Wink

Cheers, Mike.

If you mean data logging like this.....

www.poolguyenergy.com

Then its a simple programme that you can run on any windows PC with a ethernet connection to the Contoller

(note/: the shaded areas will only appear if you have the TDC4e, otherwise you will just get the line graphes if you have a TDC3e)
