Have had this question asked me, how many collectors would you need for an inside swimming pool ?

To my mind obviously less!  than an external pool

but by how much? any rules of thumb or consensus out there ?

TIA

Rob

I don't know but I'm guessing it would have to do with the airspace being heated or not, what the ratio of air temp to water temp is and how that reduces losses.

If it were me, I would go for the same size and use excess heat, to help keep the airspace warmed. But like I say I don't really know.

As a rough guide, take the surface area of the pool. if its an indoor dived this by 11, if its an outdoor divide it by 8. this (depending on pipe runs etc.) will tell you how many 20tube 47mm panels required.

That is a very rough estimate though.

Data for my pool here:

http://www.navitron.org.uk/forum/index.php/topic,7955.msg83234.html#msg83234

but I think it depends on what sort of "indoor" you have - brick, say, insulated building for swimming 24/365, or a greenhouse-type cover [which is what I have] for use 24/213 Cheesy (01-Apr - 31-Oct)
