need to purchase an export meter for my 3KWp PV system. Does anyone have firm recommendations?

Sean,

I should have titled the thread 'generation meter' rather than 'export meter'....although the device is the same, just used in a different context. Get a meter from ebay for £10 or thereabouts for your 'generation meter'. For your export meter, talk to your electricity company. They will arrange installation of your export meter with your DNO (the DNO has to do this, I believe, because it requires tampering with your import meter). I paid £80 for mine to be installed (including cost of the meter) several years ago, whereas now, the price has dropped significantly. Many utility companies are offering free installation.

Ivan

thanks for the clarification. Doesn't the SunnyBoy keep track of the data? The Platinum 3100S has an inbuilt 20 year data logger. Though at c £10 they are so cheap it won't do any harm to put one in.

It's the same company that's advertising on ebay.

The SMA unit does indeed store some data (can't remember how much), but to get the ROC on Total Generation (rather than export total) you need to have an Ofgen approved meter. I did enquire and the meter built into the GT Inverter isn't acceptable.
