Labour rebels had brown on the ropes last night and they went soft on him and are giving brown another chance Thats why this country is in the mess it is. What a load of spineless wimps. How can we continue with a party came fourth in election, a party riven with sleaze, corruption and fraud, and a leader who hasnt been elected? Overall they have no idea how to govern, no ideas as to how to get out of the financial mess they made and are so feeble they cant even sack their own waste of life leader

Perhaps they were of the opinion that the last thing the country needs now is a second unelected leader.

Perhaps they were of the opinion that a whole load of them will be out of their jobs this time next year and the longer they can keep their snouts in the trough the better.

I've got to the stage that I'm having to switch the news off when Harriet blo*dy Harman appears, wittering that "the country really wants Gorgon Brown to stay and sort things out", or there is a distinct chance the screen will get a brick through it........ Hells bells, the country has said several times, in no uncertain terms that it's sick and fed up with Brown and his disreputable cohorts, and want them gone - long walk, short pier job!

a leader who hasnt been elected?
If you are referring to Mr Brown, he has been elected. He was elected by the good people of the constituency and having gained that he was elected by the political party he is a member of. The same mechanism as was used to elect Messers Blair, Major, Thatcher, Callaghan, Heath, Wilson and so on. The precise mechanism by which the political party elected them has varied between parties and over the years. We have never had direct elections to Prime Minister in the UK.

There is a subtle difference - what many people are referring to is that noone had a chance to vote for the Labour party with Gorgon Brown leading it - a chance for all the British Public to make their feelings known about the cretinous bogie-eater. What I find even more annoying is the appearance of the unelected (and unelectable) Mandelbum at the heart of government, soon to be followed by the purveyor of crummy computers and dreadful tv - Alan "yobbo" Sugar......... What next? - Brown will probably carry on dredging the bottom of the intellectual barrel and take on "Jordan" and Jonathan Woss...........

Thatcher was elected to be PM by virtue that she was party leader when the general election was held, .......brown was not. Granted, major wasnt elected to be PM but then major wasnt a **** like brown is, and fair play tot he guy, he even had enough about him to get it on with currie You couldnt even say brown has got a good *** in him, never mind what it takes to run a country. Scotland have now got their own parliament, so why cant he off back there and make a balls of it there?

There seems to be a great deal of apathy following the last few years of political incompetence, the same apathy that sustained the evil blair in his position despite allegedly ordering scientists that disagreed with him to be bumped off. What is needed is an urgent cleansing of all the members of the houses of commons and lords;anyone found to have had their fingers in the till for more than £1 to be instantly dismissed, not just from cabinet, but as an mp;and debarred for life from holding any public position whatsoever.Act quickly and ruthlessly before things deteriorate any further. Who could handle such an investigation? look no further than that august body of diligent, fair minded ,friendly law enforcers;the metropolitan police........

I guess the tact is to announce the next election and dump Bogie Brown in the run-up.... 'we know he's rubbish but our new leader is much better....'

Its a turkeys voting for Christmas thing - It just wasn't going to happen. The ONLY way would be for Gordon himself to go the Queen & call the election. If the 50MPs it would take, were to force an internal Labour party election, most of them know that a new Leader would force them to have a General Election, more or less straight away. And many of them would lose their seats. So why would they do it? And also, don't forget, if any of the "rebels" were to resign & force a by-election, they lose out on a whole pot of money - they get loads more if they lose at a General Election. If they resign, they get a lot less. So thats not going to happen either. In fact, under any scenario can think of, the Labour Party at this time, is not going to force GB out. Sadly - but look on the bright side - its less than a year to go now...

No, no you keep him, we're happy with Alex Salmond. Brown is liked up here less than he is down there, especially as he has dumped on the scots far more than any english PM has. I think what you actually need is the SNP standing in westminster.

The Scotts and Welsh assemblies have been clever with their gifts of free tuition and prescriptions, ........not sure what it costs the countries but probably small beer yet it means a lot, like the boss actually saying thank you even though he pays wages, its a gesture that goes a long way, ......cos people are sheep.
Anyway, the voter appathy thing is not only bad for democracy, ......its not what our ancesters fought and died for, to get us this vote that we dont use, ............its at times of apathy that lead rise and give platform to trouble makers
