OK, IT'S 400+ APPARANTLY
B&Q CUSTOMER SERVICE "HELPLINE" 0870 01 01 006 ( THEN PRESS 2)
THE COMPANY NAME YOU'LL BE GIVEN IS h2O GROUP
at this point they'll say that they are arranging delivery so you need to call them.
the lady on the other end of the "water-tech / h2o" will tell you the order cannot be fulfilled as it was remnant stock within b&q ...instore) ..which begs the question why didn't B&Q sort out 1st time when the site went down, as the offer came back up!

UPDATE.. MY ORDER ACCEPTED.
The chap at the Glasgow customer service centre verified & was adamant that  ONE of my 2 individual orders had been accepted & gave me further web no's (as it were)...

May i suggest that to stand a chance you all ring the glasgow call centre & get it verified with the name of the person on the phone taken & noted in case!

Hi
Phoned B&Q Glasgow just now. B&Q recognised the order and phoned the supplier for a delivery forecast. B&Q were told the items were no longer available and I could have a full refund. I declined the refund for the time being.
Any one any ideas if we can do anything

My gut feeling is that they will use some legality to get out of this. Otherwise it would be serious loss for B&Q; £20,000 takings for £460,000 worth of kit if you assume 400 as the quantity.  Wasn't there a similar testcase for televisions sold for £1's which were actually worth closer to £1000?

I doubt that they are worth that much. Trade price is probably closer to £400 (they were selling on eBay for £550 before this offer came out). Taking £400 as the trade price would yield a cost to B&Q of £160,000, net loss of £140,000.

But I take your point, and tend to agree.

which you could selflessy write off as a summer green concern promotion!

 Edit
when i spoke to the distribbutor, they said they could not fulfil the qty, not B&Q, then when I contacted the glasgow call-centre the chap  (Asheed team 8 ) was very vocally insistent that this order would be fulfilled.

Tony, must be the outright stupidity of the fella OR trying to minimise phone-fuss.

As you are probably aware an EAN is a product id code, try asking for the fella who helped me IF the next does not assist you, I'll be calling again tomorrow, to follow up 7 keep pressure on.
Have you rung the Lady yet (at h2o)Huh

I ordered Sunday and haven'e heard anything so I phoned up the B&Q helpline this morning they told me, that due to a technical error on their website, orders were accepted after they were out of stock and I would be refunded as they have none left.  Dissapointed with that.

Received letter from B&Q today.
"System error allowing ordering when stocks were depleted"
"Water butt has now been discontinued and full refund has taken place"

I have the same letter, don't we have any recourse? They accepted my money and confirmed my order, I will write and inform them that I will be writing to the Times.....
