Hi MartinW
our loft also runs at a higher temp than my simple thermal calculation would suggest. One-wire network off at present so can't say exactly. Have no mains gas  but find that with the ASHP running in the loft the air temperature only drops 1-2 degrees and I think I am getting a COP of about 2 at present. With GoodEnergy at 7.5p for off peak - not a good rate but get HotROCS + my PV so will stick with them for a while. I,m not sure when the ASHP will ever pay back but it is best  on cloudy summer days  when I get a COP of around 4. No mains gas

I wonder how much the loft temp will drop with an ASHP running now?

Current temp in my loft is 2.3°, current temp outisde -8.7° so loft is about 10 degress centrigrade warmer... big difference compaired to ouside temps if you had ASHP in loft or ouside

whats the average ground temp (at 2m down) at this time of year? Not that I've got enought ground for a GSHP anyway, just curious.

Will check this afternoon. There is a lot of solar gain - PV producing 1.35kW and water upto 25 degrees-s2. (Was 6 degrees first thing) Outside temp currently -7 degrees was -15.2 at 9:00AM. Some of the PV and water still covered in show.

Hi again the drop was only about 1.5 degrees but an amazing day 7kWh PV despite the fact that my bottom tow of panels still have some snow and two panels were almost completely covered. The water got to 28 degrees. The crispness and air clarity was Alpine
