Hi all I am trying to gather evidence which may or may not be needed in my battle with NEDL. If you have "DIY" connected can you also give me some idea as to how helpful out of 10 (or otherwise) the DNO was. I would give NEDL a mark of zero or less!
This is I think an up to date list

North Scotland           SSE Power Distribution
South Scotland           SP Power Systems
North East England      CE Electric (NEDL)
North West           Electricity North West Ltd
Yorkshire                   CE Electric (YEDL)
East Midlands           Central Networks
West Midlands           Central Networks
Eastern England           EDF Energy
South Wales           Western Power Distribution
Southern England        SSE Power Distribution
London                   EDF Energy
South East England     EDF Energy
South West England    Western Power Distribution
North Wales, Merseyside and Cheshire    SP Manweb

Err, I think your list is wrong Sean.  DNOs are listed here:

Swalec - straightforward, no problems once I identified and spoke to the single person that deals with small scale renewables.

Hi Ted
I will check. Sorry the National Grid web site seemed to be down and the source I used seems now to be out of date. Will try to edit

Guy,

It's a sad reflection of the microgeneration community that your DNO man remembers you personally. He's probably only dealt with a handful of exporters.

SSE. Very simple for anything under 16A.

Anyone found out who to contact in EDF for the SE is?  The EDF web site makes no mention of grid tie inverter or small scale RE installation, even in their domestic supply connection and alterations section.  Do I actually need an export / total generation meter?  My grid tie system will not net export as I plan to run the water heater (3kW) when it's sunny enough to make my ~600W of solar power.

I've got a quote for a Sunny Boy 1100LV (well actually a Windy Boy but they are the same thing but in different firmware modes) but am hesitating due to the red tape factor and what if I can't get through it and the new inverter just gathers dust in the workshop as a result...

My alternative (for roughly the same cost of inverter) is to stay off-grid but buy a 3kW inverter and more batteries to be able to include more of the kitchen plug-in appliances in my scheme (such as the washing machine, microwave and fridge-freezer).  These are currently off limits as I've only got a 1kW inverter.  With a grid tie inverter I can offset part of these loads without having to actually provide all the current for them.
