Hi JohnS, I also keep my own records and compare yoy and can see that I have made savings, it would be good to see the same function on imeasure. I think whole year figures are pretty valuable, particularly when using the comparison web sites, because of the seasonal variations I feel whole year numbers are the best to use.

The competition element of imeasure is fun but only if you are doing well! I am sure that our main advantage is that the house is early 90's stock and was pretty well insulated to begin with, I have since added to this and made savings but I have no renewables, just a keen eye on the thermostat!

OK. I put some data in but couldn't see how to go back more than 6 months. Do I need to use the 'read CSV' feature for earlier data?

Oh, and 2nd :-)

hmmm must catch up on my data, having been working away three weeks now I haven't been able to plug stuff in. System tells me I wont show in graphs and ranking until I do. ; -(

Ok put in my figures for the past three weeks, sorry wookey but you'll have to try harder, I'm back at second now.  Grin

Makes me wonder about the pengchicken person again, do we know who created the 'navitron' group and can they administer users and get rid of the annomoulous result that has been put in by pengchicken?

Hi Sleepy, I have subscribed to more than one group, I wanted to see how I compared in other communities (the larger the better). I fare well in Green up your house, 10/10 and Isle of Wight. I an not technically quallified to join any of them (Hi Georgew from IOW) and I am possibly considered a 'ringer' in these groups.

I don't know how heating fuel 'other' is measured or metered but there can be little point in cheating as in the big scheme if things 'it's only yourself you're fooling' Embarrassed

I always felt my place in the top 5 was unjustified so I expect to fall as better performers sign up (just fallen to 6th).

Anomalous!? Cheek of it - here we are, virtually sitting in the dark to try and save electricity and you are casting arse-persions!!!

Just wait till the next PV array goes up in the Spring - even with your turbine, you won't catch us! I have the wife learning braille so she can read in the dark! ...and then there's the little turbine that's still waiting to leave the shed workbench!

You want to flog the kids...it's the only way! You know I'm right!  tomatosplat

ps. I think it was Iain who started the club?

Aha, outed you at last. I dunno I reckon the turbine should halve our bought in, and with my kids that will let me beat you finally. Its not the kids who are the problem, its my missus who likes to have lights on, even when she is not in that room. I even tried to wean her ono a headtorch.  whistlie

Oops, out of the closet, into the......dark!

Great idea about the headtorch. I'll get one for myself - the wife seems to be managing well enough with the braille!  Cool Cool Cool

I wonder how Imeasure would cope with 'backwards meter syndrome'..... the headtorches were very good, if a little extreme. However it only lasted about a week. Then the table lamps started to creep back into our lives. I got into a lot of trouble when she found out I had been removing fuses from plugs in an effort to render things 'broken' and in need of future attention.

JohnS. Most of us with the 'best' results have 'other' for man heating fuel, which I guess is mostly Wood, which tends to be largely unmetered, so that does rather skew the competition against metered gas-users. I'd _like_ to meter my wood use but haven't worked out a scheme that is actually practical. In theory each box could be weighed as it came in the door but that idea doesn't seem to have gained much traction with VTW, who does most of the wood-shifting at the moment.

We have 7 headtorches in this house, including one which lives in the meter cupboard for doing readings.

Pengchiken's numbers are going to be extremely difficult to beat.

Sleepbybubble: my records start from 2007-01-12 (day we moved in). I did try emailing them, which seemed to be the preferred way to get your account enabled for earlier data, but no reply yet (4 days).

To be fair, our house is very small - approx 120 square meters. The roof is stuffed full of insulation and everything else is sealed up really well. Windows are all argon filled K type glass.

We NEVER use the front door, so have also sealed that up with an oak panel backed with 50mm of kingspan!

Definitely going to get a head torch too now!!!  Grin

the way you add earlier data is to change the web address to reflect the correct date (in seconds)

10 feb 2008 would be:
http://www.imeasure.org.uk/meters.php?prev_entry=1202616000

subtract 604800 for every week you want to go back, the best idea is to go back to your first reading and enter that, then you can fill in the gap

Well then things are looking up for me, as our house is bigger, draughty, poorly insulated and doesn't even have double glazing throughout or properly sealed doors, plus we have 6 open chimneys. Perhaps we are just tight on electricity, although I don't think so. It really makes me think that other folk have got some severe problems though. Make sure you get rechargeable batterries for your headtorch!

Bl00dy hell Sleepybubble!  Shocked Once you get all that sorted, you'll beat us for sure. We had 3 open chimneys - we blanked them off and even insulated the blanking plates! Now THAT'S tight!  Grin

Hmm, just going back 3 years with prev_entry=1168616000 and inputting data gives 'invalid date'. Dull.
