Is the standard 'boiler coil' in a solar cylinder 'more efficient in any way from a standard  boiler coil one would expect to find in a standard hot water cylinder?

If it is different, why and how is it different? Does it have a special name or make up to improve efficiency. The Navitron Website doesn't give too much information on it!

I guess it depends on how old your exisiting cylinder is.

The boiler coil on my solar cylinder is certainly more efficient than that of the old 13-year old cylinder. However to my knowledge the coil is not specifically a high-recovery or high efficiency coil. These are available from some manufacturers but they are more suited for use with the newer condensing boilers as they result in cooler return flow temperatures, which suit the modulating burner. Used on an undersized 'standard' boiler may result in noticeably lowered radiator temps during winter when CH and DHW are both calling for heat.

Newark certainly list HR coil options for standard cylinders on their site. Maybe it would be possible to manufacturer a solar version with one if requested. Ivan got mine made to order for me as I was awkward and wanted 28mm comp fittings on the main cylinder connections.
