Ofgem releases a report on our energy future and security, that major investments are required......what did'nt we know! price rises of between 14%-20% are expected above inflation by 2020!

Not really. That 14-20% is over the 11 year period, so it's only about 1% P.A.

In three of the scenarios consumer prices drop for the next 2-3 years and don't return to current levels until 2014-16.

Speculation reported by journalists!

List,

With EON not building Kingsnorth's replacement until at least 2016, citing that the recession has reduced the UK's demand for electricity, we are going to be even more heavily reliant on imported gas. Not only for our powerstations, but for heating most homes.  Indiginous gas reserves fell by about 23% between 2007 and 2009 - how steep exactly is this slope of gas field decline?

No new nukes until 2020 at the earliest is going to put the UK in a self-inflicted energy crisis within 5 years.

Woodstoves and woodgas fired Lister generators is my insurance policy.
