We are using both steam reciprocating engines and steam turbines depending on the heat output required. Below 500Kwe we use engines and above turbines. The two Bellis & Morcom engines in my avater produce 300Kwe each and we are just purchasing two more Browett Lindley engines and generators of a similar size as well as an Allen Turbine of 1500Kwe.

Wow, serious power generation. Will you be able to benefit from the new FITs regime assuming you could find the appropriate section to squeeze into? When you get some more technical details of your set up, particularly your solar evac tube oil heating arrangements, I and many others, no doubt, would love to hear from you.

Are you, by any chance, off grid on a Scottish island?

unfortunately I have not had the time as yet to set one up. To busy dealing with red tape from DECC and other government departments. Anybody would think it was rocket science.

Yes we will benefit from FIT,s but you have to finance the projects first and bank lending is still a no go area for pale green technology hence the importance of government grants and loans to stimulate pale green generation.

Were just outside Bolton with the new plant in the centre of Liverpool and another under discussion on the outskirts of Bristol all connected to the grid.

We not only want to generate using renewable energy but also to transport. To this end we have located a Manchester Ship canal gauge vessel equipped with a quadruple expansion compound engine similar to the engines used in the Titanic and built by Fleming & Ferguson of Paisley.
