Just for interest sake, I've listed the E7 prices from npower, and compared to my current tariff:

E7 :                     Night Units 4.59p                On-peak units: 1st 351 units 23.9p  and 16.3p thereafter

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CURRENT TARIFF:                                                                1st 351 units 15.83 and 15.34 thereafter

So the on-peak units are approx. 1p/unit more expensive, but the standing charge disguised in the initial on-peak unit cost is £26.70/quarter compared to £1.70/quarter for non-E7

...are you saying E7 just isn't worth it, unless you can move daily demand so that more occurs over night. Which I'm guessing is quite hard to do - may be dish washer/washing machine on at night, but otherwise?

For comparison EON: First 217kWh 22.370, then 9.530

I like the idea of providing incentives for using power off-peak. We try to put our dishwasher/washing machine on at night, but it's not always convenient (eg in summer when we've got an excess of solar hot water to get rid of, and a nice sunny day for hanging on the line (clothes, not dishes).

Incidentally, can you both modify your posts to include the night-time rate, as well, please?

this is a very good rate for E7. Trying out GoodEnergy and have posted the rates twice already on this Forum  but can post a third time if Ivan suggest this. I have a 4:1 night vs day consumption  and the GoodEnergy night rate is about 7p per unit.

they claim to be the cheapest around?

not sure on the green credentials though

7p a night unit seems a lot
try putting you prices and usage in this
should give you the true cost of usage not the BS comparisons that you find on the web

hope the excel sheet works

PS if you want to use them sign up via the web link and I'll get some Penney's (which will go towards greening my life (wbs next))

i am a distributor for them (network marketing) not very good at it as not pushy as a sales person hence the excel sheet

it will show you how much you could save or not!
you can use it to compair any ones prices based on your usage
but please don't believe any of the web sites workings out god knows how the come up with these figures but no mater what your on the always claim you'd say 100's a year?HuhHuh??

Scottish Poer DF online

First 225kwh - 15.8, thereafter 10.77

Night tariff - 5.63

I am trying to make best use of night tariff.

DW and washing machine always used at night

Boiler for water heating comes on at 5 - so pump and boiler fan using Ec7

Refigerators (2) are on timeswitches - turn off at 9.30pm and come on at 12.15am
Chest Freezer (1) on timeswitch. Off at 6pm and on at 12.15am

I also have a 400a/h battery bank and 440W PV. This in winter runs a small freezer although I charge the batteries up on Ec7 over night.

Late night films - get the ironing out! Grin
