Cost for new boiler?

I am thinking of replacing our 20yr old wall mounted balanced flue boiler with a straight replacement condensing boiler.

Has anyone had this done and what price should I expect to pay?

Twice as much as it should be if you get BG to do it

assuming there is a switched spur already there

assuming the flueing is horizontal and the holes match up

assuming there is a 22mm gas feed

what about power flushing etc, which most manufactures include as part of commissionning, could take 3-6 hrs and then drain down so 1 day doing all the prep work and the second day on the new install and commissionning

say 2 days labour and decent boiler with flue and programmer etc for argument sake say 1K and sundy items im guessing  £2.5k or as cheap as £1.5k it all depends where you live and how much work is about

some might not want to go down the power flushing due to potential leaking from joints/radiators,  your best bet is to get a recommendation failing that come up with a spec yourself and gve to some gas safe engineers, at least they will be quoting on the same thing then.

We need more information such as size and type of property (detached, semi, end terraced, flat, mansion), number of floors, room height, type of walls (eg. cavity filled, solid), how many external walls, type of windows, type of roof and insulation, and location of property (north and midlands, northern ireland, Scotland, southeast and wales, southwest), number of radiators (number fitted with thermostatic radiator valves), location of proposed new boiler, flue options, condensate requirements, whether or not the gas pipe has to be up sized (or is boiler oil?), pipe insulation, programmable controls, to name but a few.  Actually that's most of them.  With that info, as an installer, I'd be able to give you an accurate quote.

Whats the current make and model of the boiler?  If its got a pilot light (i.e. permanently lit) then you'll definitely be eligible for a £400 cheque for the replacement once the job is complete (under the government boiler scrappage scheme).

I live in a Detached bungalow in Hove Sussex.
Last year I had my wall hung boiler changed for a Worcester Green Star condensing one.
I also had the flue go up into the loft and out through the roof, instead of straight out of the wall, power flush and Sentenal inhibitor, plus a new programmer.. Price was £1800 or there about.
Needless to say I'm well pleased with it, and the quality install.

Thanks for your replies. The current boiler is a Potterton Netaheat Electronic 16/20 gas boiler. About 20 years old. 11 radiators with TRVs.
Modern 4 bed detached in the South West of England. Existing Flue position and wiring seem OK. I guess it would make sense to go for a new controller.

I have had two gas fitters round - one says I need to increase the size of the feed pipe from 15 to 22mm. the other says he would try the existing pipe then do some tests to see if it needed replacing.

I would appreciate recommendations on which boiler to go for.

Id go for a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 15ri about £700.  If its a straight swap, factor in a days labor (£300) for a decent plumber and your all done for a grand.  Ive done this twice in two properties.
