Once I had the MAC code from Pipex the migration to o2 was not quite as swift and painless as I had hoped, but I can't really blame O2.

It turns out the O2 router was damaged by the courier and returned to O2 without attempting delivery, but it arrived back with O2 on the day that my service was migrated. My old modems, while supposedly ADSL2+, wouldn't work with the O2 network (mainly firmware issues I think). Anyway, they sent me a new router relatively quickly and from then on it was OK. My bandwidth also went up from ~1/6mbps to ~2.6mbps which is an obvious improvement.

The only ongoing drawback is that the standard O2 Wireless Box 2 seems to have pretty poor wireless performance, with connection problems at some strange places in my old masonry building and being quite slow (I have a mix of b and g devices on my network, and I think it switched down to b). This week I put the O2 box into bridge mode and moved back to using my DLINK 802.11n router and the wireless performance is noticeably faster and more robust.

Otherwise happy with O2 so far, especially since the last two months have been free, and it's only £7.50/month from here on.
