much easier to just hinge the windscreen forwards....whats that, you dont have a landrover?...tough!

They just have to pour hot water over your face when you get to your destination...  Tongue

I put a bank card to realy proper use and scrape off the ice while the engine is warming the oil at tickover to reduce damage to my big hens
Yes, hens is the solution. Train your big hens to roost on the dash overnight, not only a clear screen but you can stuff them in your jacket for the 2 hours it takes your landy heater to actually produce some heat. Failing that a decent length of boa constrictor will stretch along the screen and both side windows, though I think they are cold blooded and not so effective.

I let the drivers side blade get nearly to the drivers side edge before stopping it. Then I tuck a good stiff flattened corrugated box behind the blades. That arrangement doesn't cover right across to the passenger side but stands up to wind better here, and will manage a few soakings before it need replacing.

In the old days when car doors had proper handles I had a cut down tarpaulin (part of an old canvas lorry sheet) that I put across the screen and then tied the corners back to the door handles, but you can't do that with these modern flush handles...

an incredibly stupid twick ,
was one by by a friend of mine, we were sitting waiting in a car, the driver lit a cigarette from the lighter in the dash, my friend asked him was it hot in the little hole he pulled the lighter out off.the driver said he ws,nt sure but he could always find out if he stuck his finger in the hole,my friend took him at face value and rammed his finger in the hole and waited, his fingers were like big sausages because he was such a big man, he suddenly began roaring and pulled the finger out,the top of the finger was nicely grilled in a circular pattern,
it is extremely difficult to run at speed while cracking up laughing.
