nice one

i reckon the idea is based on "ultra filtration" small ceramic tubes were the water is pushed through ,  something like this http://www.dwc-water.com/technologies/filtration-systems/index.html

My whole house water flows trough a filter like this since 2 years now

like said its more  likely to be a ultrafiltration membrane , not a reverse osmosis ....

the benefit of the ultrafiltration membrane is you need lesser energy to press the "dirty "water trough the filter  , as far as i know reverse osmosis is dumping parts of the water ( might be wrong ) and needs higher pressure (so hard to use it as a inline filter )

http://www.lifesaversystems.com/techinfo.html

again  our back washable filter cartridge  is installed over 2 years now ( with a pre- filter) to fill ca 1 shower , 1 dishwasher, our cooking water , and half of a washing-machine a day  extracting water of a clean pond

Wow does that product really work? It's amazing! But drinking that water after seeing where it came from was so dirty is gonna be hard.  And £115 isn't exactly cheap.

Yes it is ultra filtration, RO's require high pressure to push the water through the membrain, 6000l is not a lot in terms of the ultra-filter itself but good for human consumption and saving lives. What i mean is if the ultra filtration unit was on say a dialysis unit it would be doing 10000l a month which is why it requires pre treatment i.e. softners, RO's and UV to help the ultra filtration filter last a lot longer.
after 6000l the hand held will be clogged and require changing of the filter

Snakeoil salesman of the worst kind exploiting 3rd world problems to sell his proiduct.
Pressure assisted filter bottles have been around for years for campers at about 1/3 the price.
For disaster relief high volume motorised units are hundreds of times more ecenomic and efficient.
For third world fixed installations all you need is a few bags of silver sand like our own water companies use.
