They had a few bugs in the system, but I'm definitely closed out now, so no more applications.   Sad

Strange old week this one.

I don't think I've ever done so many re-workings of a website before!

Well there's a bit of a disincentive then - FiTs to remain the same for the next 2 years and module prices to decrease significantly over the same period. Why install now?

I wonder whether installers will also now lower their prices a little - will depend on demand I guess, but that's a large change from £4.50/Wp to £6.00/Wp installed.

Was most peeved when I sat down to apply for a grant at 8pm last night Roll Eyes

Hi
The installer who gave me a price actually worked out at £3.39/w (after grant).
I know its still expensive but it is a sign of a downward trend. Without grant it would be £4.47/ w

Maybe I've only talked to expensive installers so far (Im still waiting for one quote). Would you be happy to post the name of your installer (or PM me)? Thanks.

itsnewtome. £4.47 pre-grant is about as good as it gets going from various quotes here over last year or so. So you're doing OK there.

Ive mentioned this before you say £4.47 per watt fitted. So a 1kw system is £4470 or is this for a larger system?

It will be £2,500 divided by £1.08 (£4.47-£3.39) which gives 2.31 Kw by my reckoning or 14 165w panels.

I wonder how close my calculation is............

Danny
A few reasons really.
Firstly to find out what sort of prices people are charging for what type of kit.
Secondly I want to see what their paperwork is like. If I get a couple of quotes in I can look at what they give and I will use the best bits from them to produce my own.
And finally to take advantage of the grant system Grin
I have decided to go with NAPIT and am looking to be assessed in March sometime. If all goes well I will change installer details to myself and install on my own place.
This will also give me an opportunity to practice dealing with the DNO and iron out any problems.
By the way where do you get all the stickers and test sheets etc foe G83?

Hhhhmmmmm - To become assessed you have to show 1 installation so why not use your own installation.  Think its a bit bad gettting other installers round and wasting there time just so you can steal there ideas and paperwork, lets hope i wasnt one of them!!!

I don't think its bad what I've done. In fact one of the guys told me he was doing exactley the same so they could ensure thay are competetive.
I have been quoting for electrical work for years and I know that on some occasions I am there purely as a guide for someone else's price.
I am not stealin gtheir paperwork. They have to leave me with a copy of their quote. I am simply getting an idea. As you know the MCS is very challenging so I am just trying to make life easier.
With regards the grant I got a call from one of the installers at about 4.30pm telling me that the scheme was closing and that I should apply. He said it would not tie me into their company so thats what I have done. I'm not going to pass the chance to get a £2500 grant.

We get quotes from other installers handed to us all the time by customers and always look at them.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if we'd quoted for one man bands trying to get their MCS accreditation, and whilst always annoying to have wasted time and money it really is just business.
