Hi all,

Anyone know where I can get a cheap wireless relay to control a 10A load?  Distance will be about 400m line of sight and I'd like to be able to use my own control software on a linux server.  Would be nice if it was easily expandable, so that I can add more sensors/relays in time.
Zigbee seems to be a nice option, but I can't find a simple cheap 10A zigbee relay.

Any ideas?

Not sure if this is what you wanted, but worth a shot.  Its a home automation kit, you can control device all around the house so easily expandable.  Also connects to your Wifi so devices can be controlled via mobile app.  Pretty cool but expensive!

400m via any wireless might be struggling.
These will do 100m:

This, at 1 or 2W, ought to do it easily though they don't quote a range:

They might not be legal though!

These claim 1000m range but you'd need an arduino + relay shield or similar at the remote end:

Again, they might not be legal.

This one claims 500 to 800m, but you'll need a microcontroller at both ends.

More directional/ higher gain aerials would help as well.

Another one that claims 1000m:

Thanks, although not quite what I'm looking for  Smiley

I've built little arduino gadgety relay controllers using GPRS shield etc, but want something less DIY and more easily expandable.  E.g. when I have a new pump that needs to be turned on, I can just plug in another relay widget and start controlling it.

XBee PRO can do the range, but all the ready made kits seem to insist on sticking it onto an arduino.  I really don't need the arduino bit, just want the xbee + relay!  I thought the market would be flooded with this type of thing.... apparently not  Cry
