BACKGROUND

Installing Solar Panels can be a rewarding and successful business. Solar Installers have the potential to earn high salaries, whilst enjoying a rewarding and worthwhile job. The job requires minimum outlay, and the process is relatively straightforward. Navitron runs professional training courses equally suitable for individuals who wish to attend a course prior to installing their own system, or for tradespeople who wish to become professional installers. There will be plenty of time to ask questions, and for advice on specific installations. On completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of training, and you will have the opportunity to purchase equipment on the day, to take away with you.

Benefits:

  • Learn how to do the job properly, and avoid the common mistakes
  • Gain marketing experience which will help you to succeed
  • Obtain a professional qualification

The need for installers

A DTI-published report shows that the average price of a vacuum tube solar water heating system is over £6000. The DTi recognises that these high prices are due to a lack of professional solar installers, that cannot meet the rapidly rising demand for renewable solar energy systems. This lack of competition in the marketplace is partly responsible for these high prices. In addition, most suppliers in the UK are selling systems at inflated prices - panels generally cost £600-1200+vat. Navitron is changing this - with modest component prices, we intend to lower the overall cost of solar power, to allow much more widespread implementation. To do this we need to expand our network of installers who are able to carry out solar installations

DIY or Professional

This course is designed for both the professional installer and the individual who wishes to learn how to fit their solar water heating system to a high standard.

The training Course.

Before carrying out your first installation, you should attend a training course to learn how to make the most of your evacuated tube heater. This course covers everything from the basics and theory to practical aspects of installations. The course also demonstrates how very simple solar water heating systems can be, and how to make the most of the equipment. There is also plenty of time for questions and answers. The course covers the following:

  • Background
  • Solar Facts
  • Solar Heating Theory
  • Performance of Solar Collectors
  • System Components
  • Skills/Equipment requirements
  • Solar System Configurations
  • System Design
  • Swimming pools
  • Installation Planning and Surveying
  • Installation Techniques
  • Marketing Methods

On completion of the course, you will receive a training certificate, which is your solar installations qualification.

Location: We are based in Monmouth, but the training courses are held at facilities near Bromyard (Herefordshire)

Price and Profitability

Currently, typical quotes for installations range from £6000-£15000! Many of the larger companies charging £6000 are carrying out 40 installations per week. Navitron encourages its installers to charge a more realistic figure for installations. By offering lower prices, installers will bring in much more potential work, and the customer will appreciate the fact that they are not being 'ripped off' by pushy salesmen.
