Is it possible that my consumption meter could also be recording some /all of my generation as well ? It is a Siemens S2AM C12 a few years old.

I can't believe it is, but the figures just don't seem to add up, and we seem to still use more than I would expect on bright sunny summer days, and daily net consumption seems fairly constant all year round despite large differences in generation

Is there a list or specification listing the suitability of consumption meters that are OK with Solar PV generation systems ?

Thanks,

Nick

The only common fault is that the meter goes backwards when the PV is generating, that would be to your advantage.

I'd expect that you are just not using much power when the PV is generating, i.e. during the day.

Some meters can be set to record electricity usage in both directions.  This is to catch out those who wire them backwards.  Maybe yours is one of theses.

I thought that this has come up before and did a quick Google search.

I found this from the MoneySavings Expert Forum and it was also a siemens meter but a different model number.

Problem was as described in my previous post.

Thanks for the replies, guys,

I now know how best to tackle the query after reading the other linked thread...

I did post about a year ago as I had concerns just after the array was fitted, but at that time no details of consumption or generation - I now have daily records of each to work with !

What re-awakened my concerns is that we were actually using less electricity in September than June/ July and we are fairly careful about running power hungry devices on sunny days whenever possible, because we can ( dishwasher / washing machine) yet consumption was more in summer !

I will post any updates as and when I get them

Thanks to all again,

Nick

I'm sure we've had a customer who's had this problem with that make/model of meter. It's set to record flow in both directions as being the same thing, and needs replacing by your supply company as I doubt you'll find anyone with the correct kit and knowledge to reprogram it.
