Title: Parasitic circulation round heat dump rad
Post by: DaveSimon on March 07, 2011, 09:01:44 AM
Have recently installed WBS (by a qualified plumber), via direct connection to thermal store that also has gas boiler & solar coils (all working fine). When I have a nice warm fire in the WBS, the gravity system works fine, but next morning my solar controller (TDC3) says the bottom of the store is much colder than it used to be - 30C instead of 45C or so. The heat dump rad works when the fire is on (as it should) but am I now getting parasitic circulation through the night as the fire dies down? If so, what can I do about it?

Hi Dave, I had similar situation and used one of these from ASAP supplies.  Any good plumbers merchants should have them or get hold of them for you.

The others may have other ideas mind but for me it saved rerouteing fairly large pipes.

Don't you just hate not being able to modify and I forgot to say it's a check valve or flap valve.  Only allows one way movement.

that valve is a brilliant solution,
it is the same valve that you fit to prevents the pumped system from recycling through the gravity sytem in some c/hs
