We need more of this thinking if renewables are really going to win the day.   http://news.sciencemag.org/sciencenow/2012/02/massive-energy-storage-courtesy-.html

Is this  now going ahead in Ireland ?   I know of this particular  concept    since years ..........

In general  , my thinking is , if it is not "cheaper" to develop  efficient Windpumps   off shore , and pump only , no generator on each turbine ,  and have one constant running and adjustable   generator at the stored hydro lake ?

Sure i read that windpumps are not as  efficient  , but this is based on old designs (i guess)

and also , i  cannot understand that the idea of  , does not in-cooperate PV here in Ireland , beside Wind

Sure onshore wind is  perhaps the cheapest here , but  will PV  not catch up ?
