Title: Commercial RHI for neighbours v individual Domestic RHI
Post by: Yoda on September 21, 2013, 01:33:38 PM
Does anyone have experience of a written agreement between neighbours allowing for a commercial RHI application? Both neighbours are keen on biomass and we are considering independent domestic installations as we are in a rural location and on Oil and LPG respectively. We have a combined heating requirement of C. 80kw.  I'm thinking of a simple agreement whereby I install the kit and sell heat to him at an agreed cost say x% below the LPG cost.  I can't be the first to consider this but I'm struggling to find example agreements. It may just be too onerous but it makes sense from a payback perspective.
Many thanks

first and most important, hello & welcome

-  svengo - don't you know this is the insulate, insulate and insulate again forum, what are you living in?  ;D

Thanks for the welcome A.L. It's nice to find a forum discussing these issues and the locals sound friendly :crossed

Well it's a big Victorian place at just over 6,000 sq ft with 3.6m ceilings but I've done pretty much all I can on the insulation front, loads in the loft, Pilkington K secondary glazing, under-floor insulation where possible, low wattage bulbs etc,  I also have solar PV and Optimmersion to use excess generation for hot water (which is great by the way). I toned down my post from the space heating requirement quoted on my recent Green Deal assessment of 96,000kWh! My neighbour however, has a new build so I'm sure that's more insulated.

I have to say that as a newbie to biomass, it is a complete minefield for someone like me that doesn't know my Windhager arse from my ETA elbow, I'm really struggling with all the boiler options.
