Title: Micro-renewables university study
Post by: camwalker22 on January 14, 2019, 07:05:31 PM
Hi, I'm a geography student at the University of York conducting a study on energy demand practices in relation to solar PV/solar thermal among other micro-renewable energy sources. I need people that have solar panels or other renewable energy installations in use at their home to help me by completing my 5 minute survey. The link to the survey is below, I'd be really grateful for your help :)

I have filled it in.

One thing about your questions. As with so many surveys posted by people studying today you have managed to miss out a large chunk of possible educational achievements.

Before 1992 many people who when on to higher education did 2-year courses known as HNCs and HNDs as you jump from A-level to Bachelor Degree you force rather a lot of people into selecting 'other'.

One slight flaw in the survey, you can only select to state that you have Either wind Or PV, there's no option to select more than one renewable.

camwalker22,

I started to complete the survey but stopped when I got to the second question I couldn't answer adequately due to the very limited choices you've made available.

1. How long ago were the micro-renewables installed? In my case 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017 & 2018.

2. What type of micro-renewable(s) are currently installed? You offer the option of plurals but you can only select one!

IMHO the survey needs a little more thought?

Regards

Richard

looked right through it but only being able to give one answer to many questions makes it not possible to complete accurately.
1. Many people have more than one "renewable installed"
2. The best renewable you can install is INSULATION
3 the options given do not cover all possibilities accurately.
4. Many installations are done by and require a professional installer -you put these in other.

Good luck

I tried to fill the survey but completely agree with the comments already posted. I think a rewrite is a good idea.

Hi Cameron
Have completed it, hope you get some useable data from it.  You've come to the right place if you want to know more about domestic renewables though - there's a huge amount of knowledge and experience here
