Title: Sunny Island Si4500 installer password
Post by: ronsine on April 14, 2019, 01:31:44 PM
Hi there,any of you knowledgeable members know how to get the installer password for the early Sunny Island Si 4500 inverter chargers?
Have put in a query to SMA nearly a week ago but no reply yet...I believe it is derived from a check sum using the unit date.
Can anyone confirm and pass on how it is calculated?
Thanks in advance.
Ron

Hi Ron.

The configuration password on mine (different model though) is the sum of all the digits of the total run hours.

The installer password however is a different thing: To get what's called an SMA grid guard code, you need to apply to SMA, they will allocate you a personal code that's only for your own use. They seem to have started charging for those, too....

Hi Eric,
Thanks for that but I believe that the Si 4500 is different in that it uses a check sum of the date somehow.

day + month + year in a form of ID0000

so today would be 15 + 4 + 19

== ID0038

Have tried every permutation I can think of to get the installer password with no success.
My Si 4500 has a six digit password screen with numbers only.
Anyone got any more ideas?
