Another one bites the dust. When I was working there as a generator service Engineer for the OEM about 13 years ago, SSE said that they had plans to run it until 2036.
It had one of the better canteens too.
I remember the cooling tower falling down over Christmas at the end of 1982 and seeing it from the top floor at Salford Uni. It was rebuilt and working again within a year.
