Whats up with the genny?

I had trouble on one day in the last cold snap as we bought our red in the summer & it was starting to wax up. Took about 30 mins of starting it, letting it run for a few seconds & turning off to warm up the case enough to keep the fuel lines & filters free of wax. But it had been standing for a few days. Even whilst it was still cold it was ok as it was run every other day.

I think I need to sort my AVR out or convert it back to cap controlled.

I have had a total no power out a couple of times. My "head" is brushless.
You can test the windings for shorts & breaks.

1, voltage control capacitors failed
2, flying diode lead had snapped due to stresses

As caps are cheap it best to have spares so you can swap to check. The other one was a physical break, normally the diode would fail electrically & you need to de solder both ends to test it. However its easy to blow the diode with excess heat when de soldering it. I am still looking for a sensible cost spare diodes.
