I am just about to start remaking all my DC cables.

I have them in sizes ranging from 1mm2 csa to 120mm2 csa.
Trouble is heat shrink sleeving is sold either by flat width or diameter & not for cable csa, which could be misleading any way due to insulation thickness.

So how can I reliably tell which sizes I need. Not too worried about the smaller sizes but do need to find out about 35,40,50 & 120mm2. Also do I need 2-1 or 3-1 & is it worth paying the premium (about 3 times the price) for the glued versions?

Hi Justme
I use the glued version all the time. For wiring on lorries boats etc. I certainly think it worth it. It seals the crimp and insulation and makes a stronger joint than the non adhesive one. I have a roll of the adhesive from years ago so I could use any heatshrink with it, not sure if you can get the separate adhesive any more. I am lucky I just go to my local wholesaler(Western Electrical ) with a piece of wire and get some heatshrink to fit.
Also use these from RS
366-2831 x 50mm long
366-2847 x50mm long
366-2825 x 65mm long
They come in bags of 100

Very heavy duty and excellent

Only used the unglued stuff myself so far but friends who do a lot of wiring on gliders, aeroplanes, trailers, etc, say the glued version is "the biz".  Thanks for the reminder to get some before I do any serious wiring.

As quite a few will be outside I think the best option is the glued ones.
Will also be handy for the joins in the heat trace cable for the out door water pipe work.

Now just need to get it down to as few sizes as possible but are still available in red & black.
I could get away with all black apart from the 120mm2 cable as that cable is all black so needs identification at the terminals.
