List,

It's just after 3:30am in Belize, Central America, and my friend Peter Singfield, over there says that Category 5  hurricane "Dean" made landfall, about 30 miles up the coast just after 2am.

The lights are out - as most of the utilities have killed the power to prevent accidents from live power lines.

Peter has started up his trusty Listeroid genset and says that he is the only power in the district.

Reliable hurricane proof power from a Listeroid gen-set running in slow-mo.

It runs his farmstead where he manufactures coconut products.

Peter runs it on a mixture of coconut oil and diesel - depending which is easiest to obtain - coconuts will be more likely right now - flying sideways.

Surprisingly he still has telecomms and is still  posting regular updates to the internet list "Belize Culture"

Here's a map showing the currentposition of Dean.  My friend is just to the south and west of the eye.

More news of the ravages of Hurricane Dean when I get it - brought to you by Lister powered colleague in Belize.
