one of the reasons why I really don't like Calor is that I was stuck for gas one day and had to get a bottle of propane from them at their usual high price, can't remember what the deposit was but I do remember being shocked at the amount. anyway fast forward a fourtnight and I went to return the bottle and reclaim my deposit. Same branch, same bloke on the counter who I saw often as I bought autogas LPG from them most weeks, so he knew me and could remember me getting the gas bottle. No deposit repayment without the original invoice, no amount of common sense arguing helped, original paperwork or no deposit refund. F*ck them, I took my empty away and it still sits beside my shed gathering moss.
Cheers,

Whereas a simple barcode (out - in) hasn't been invented yet, right!? ...they are incredibly bad to deal with at times, needs to be a tightening of regs with zero wriggle room for the dealers.

I hear you desp, however badly implemented softwares not where I was going  Wink ..various details can be set against barcodes, esp as an item often left outside, confirming identity / invoice matching / signature matching/ typical usage patterns etcshould be easy in the modern age of smart phones & shared email accounts, ...just a case of poor implementation.

Working in Turkey many years ago as a yachtsman mechanic on a fleet of charter boats one of my jobs was to re-gas the yachts every week. The small "Campingaz" bottles used were a nightmare. I quickly learnt to carry a detergent/water spray bottle when collecting refills as the valves regularly leaked and quite often bubbles could be seen coming from the neck weld joints. Weighing them was also necessary as the locals didn't care how much gas they'd put in banghead
