In a period of wakefulness last night, I heard (don't think it was a dream) on 5Live a report that a lab somewhere was embarking of field trials having successfully increased the potential fuel content of maize 170% by getting protein into the stems and leaves instead of just the cobs. The initial problem was that photosynthesis was impaired...
