At least they are in the warranty period,
                             Wear and tear from the swirling gravel laden tide is extremely destructive. The hardest rocks in the universe get ground down to fine sand after being exposed to swirling gravel for a year.
The engineers have their work cut out designing some method of easily replaceable buffers rather that have to remove the whole Turbine. I recall that the Turbine at the neck of Strangford Lough suffered a few failures in it,s early days, (I think). The idea is the way to go it is just a matter of finding a way to fend off the destructive power and still harness all that energy.
