A noticeable, well-timed, Gridwatch spike on Pumped hydro, and, a bulge on Hydro.
Well done the National Grid, engineering & experience topping ignorance & the senseless spread of despair.

Come back sun!!!! pishing with rain here now We did get a glimpse or two in the end through gaps in the cloud. Even the 'post lady' was impressed looked a lot better though the welding mask than the camera right enough but there was a steady breeze throughout. Dunno why that surprised me, I guess it was because the last one I saw was total and it went deathly quiet.

^ Sunny Island instruction manual. (Except the German call centre mis-understood, and, it is in all the EU languages, except English & French!).

Our PV stopped for about 10 mins, And then slowly crept back up into the dump load and our turbine is doing the business once again. I watched the Norwegian version live and that was very dramatic. The Norwegian eclipse was a total blackout for a good 60 seconds. We hardly had anything that was different from a bad thunderstorm. Biff

I must have good eclipse-weather-luck, 'cos not only was it crystal clear here for the duration (a rarity in these parts) - even the con-trails of the passing airliners dissipated in seconds, but it was clear where I was working during the last partial eclipse (1999?) Mind you, I don't have the same luck with mountains; I've been to Darjeeling 3 times and still haven't seen the Kanchenjunga Mtns, and went to a place (forget the name) near the foot of Mt Kilamanjaro and didn't see it at all ; and by all accounts, it's pretty hard to miss.

Funny how much difference a few miles makes, darling wife, her of the welding mask and postie jacket headed off to work at 9:30ish. She arrived home at 5:30 raving about the stunning beauty of it all and how spectacular it was as she drove the ten miles into work
