Oh good suggestion Paul M.  I had not thought about buying from said site.  Or from Navitron.  It is only a budgeting number for me at this time.  Will see how long my SMA 4000 TL-20, with a ten year warranty lasts.

Finally, 15 days short of ten years, I have broken even on FITs earned over cost (net of grant).

I was an early adopter in 2010 and managed to get the Low Carbon Buildings grant which was phased out when FITs were introduced, but a lucky few could get both.

It has been a long wait to reach pay back given the high cost of the components back in 2010.

In practice, pay back was earlier as I have not quantified savings from using my PV generation at home and when the meter went backwards for the first few months.
