One alternative might be to replace the existing log burners with pellet stoves. That can be done **relatively** cheaply (certainly for less than fitting a full wet system), and pellet stoves can be programmed to turn on and off as required - I think some are even thermostatically controlled. Depending on how the internal air circulation in your house works, that might achieve the desired objective (reducing electricity consumption for heating) without needing to fit a full wet system.

TT - Thanks for the reply.  I am just across the Tay from you,  may even be able to see you!!  Do you have any contacts/recommendations for local people who could help give advice/quotes.

Now I need to look at solar hot water heating!! As well as Biomass!!
