Hi,
Think its a case of the decimal point being in the wrong place. 140mm sip using PIR works out at u value of .14 ish.

And unlike the last build the Builder, Joiners, Electrician and Plumber are excellent.

Certainly recommend the following without hesitation.

Angus Homes (Turriff - kit supplier)
Russell Construction (Elgin - Joiners & Kit Erection)
Turriff Building Services (Groundworks)
Andy Duguid (Electricians)
Plumbing and Renewables (Burghead - Plumbers & ASHP)

Always worth a mention if they do a good job I think

When will you be in? A completely nonstalking question i'd like to add. Great that you have had good trades. Makes the whole thing a nice experience.

It's  a fine job Russ.
Your past experience has stood you good stead.
It is nice when the trades pull together
and leave a nice job. They even put decent no nonsense hinges on the shed and I know they have good meaty diagonals screwed to the back so theRE will be no sagging. You are nearly there.

Well what a palaver to get the water connected !
I had spent 2 months speaking to 7 different people at Scottish Water and the final straw came when we were due to let them finally inspect their mains which was right in the middle of the farm track outside the plot. So our builder exposed their main and covered it with hired road plates, so the 'Engineer' turns up and the first thing he says to the builder (luckily I wasn't there!) was he didn't need to inspect their main (not what we were told hence the work to expose it!) and then the next thing he said was we had put the wrong side of blue pipe from the boundary box to the house, instead of 25mm which we had he said it should be 32mm and it would all have to be dug up and changed out. That was total cr*p because the regs say 25mm for a single dwelling, anyway he then told the builder he was failing it and would go back to Inverness to write a report, which he hadn't decided what to include at that point !!!

SO !

At that point I lost it, I went online and found the email address for the CEO of Scottish Water and sent him a very precise and polite email, not expecting a reply. Well I was was wrong, pithing an hour he had replied and the the following day I got a call from their Area Manager apologising for the hassle and promised it would be connected in 3 days, which it was !

He knew the idiot who came out last and said, oh yes we know Kenny, he is from Nairn so may be a bit like that !  Obviously he must have given him and all the others a rocket because he was not happy at all with the hassle we had.

So bottom line is we now have a water connection !

All inside cladding is done, the 3 plasterboard rooms and now also painted and floor tiled and we have now set an approx date for the end of July to get in, fingers crossed !!

Well done! I am incredibly envious of this and regularly show this thread to the Mrs.

I have a little woodland with a clearing in the middle that is just begging for something like this...
